Laser, which is stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of radiation, is an electrical-optical device that produces coherent radiation. Laser is a device that creates and amplifies a narrow, intense beam of coherent light and widely used in industry for cutting and boring metals and other materials, in medicine for surgery, and in communications, scientific research [1].

Classification of lasers based on source type:

  •  Solid-state laser
  •  Gas laser
  •  Liquid laser
  •  Semiconductor laser

Depending on the laser source type the wave length of laser beam differ and can be used for different purposes. For example, CO2 laser produces laser beam with the wavelength of 10600nm while fiber lasers wavelength is about 1060nm; hence, materials that can be cut or marked will differ for these sources. Several parameters should be taken in account to choose a proper laser machine for a specific usage such as working material, thickness, production rate, durability, safety etc.
